Introduction to assessments and other activities
Trainees complete assessed work assignments throughout the three years of training. They are also assessed by their supervisor throughout each practice placement. There are no formal written examinations. All trainees undertake the same amount of clinical and academic work, although the time taken may vary if, for example, a trainee takes maternity leave during training. We do not accredit learning and experience gained prior to training as the Lancaster DClinPsy is not a modular programme. Proficiency is attained over the full three years of training in many different contexts. Consistent and transparent accreditation of previous learning is not possible within the learning context of the DClinPsy programme. Trainees take part in a number of programme policy groups e.g., the Selection and Admissions Policy Group. Their views shape programme policies and practice.
