Self Funded Applicants
The programme does not accept trainees on a self-funding basis, for the following reasons:
- The programme feels this would be philosophically incompatible with its aim to widen participation in the profession as those unable to self-fund would be excluded from applying for any extra training places made available in this way.
- The programme aims to provide qualified clinical psychologists to take up employment in the North West, and elsewhere. The number of graduates must match the number of jobs likely to be available as accurately as possible. The programme, therefore, adheres to the number of commissions considered appropriate by the local NHS purchaser of clinical psychology training.
- Trainee clinical psychologists need, for registration at this university, to be employed by an NHS Trust. This would not be possible for self-funding applicants.
