Have you thought about gaining some valuable working experience outside of your studies? Here's the way to start!

The Department of Sociology and Lancaster Careers would like to invite you to attend:

FUTURE TALENT WORKSHOP: WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENTS DEMYSTIFIED

TIME: 2:00 - 4:30 PM DATE: Wednesday, 29 January 2014 LOCATION: Bowland North, Seminar Room 20

Work experience is a great way to earn money, boost your CV, develop your skills and can help you make new career contacts. Make sure you stand out from the crowd and make the most of your time at the University!

Come along to the Future Talent Workshop and find out more about a range of work placement opportunities such as internships and summer work placements. You will also get a chance to listen to the stories and chat to students who have already completed work placements and put your own skills into practice by working on applications.

The session will be run in a form of a workshop and you will get a chance to find out more about:

The benefits of gaining relevant work experience in businesses, charities and the public sector Support networks and services at the University and beyond The new FASS Work Placements Programme Volunteering Opportunities available through Lancaster University Volunteering Unit Techniques to write a CV/application that will make you stand out from the crowd

The session will equip you with the knowledge to identify opportunities and offer guidance on writing a great application.

This workshop is relevant to ALL undergraduate students in the Department of Sociology who would like to find out more about work experience placements and to explore ways of boosting your employability.

N.B. The workshop has a limited number of 40 places, so please be sure to register early. Also, if after registering you realise that you can no longer attend the session, please be sure to cancel your booking by emailing p.kolata@lancaster.ac.uk and free up a space for students on a waiting list.
