Thesis Outline

My research explores how class is understood to inform LGBT/Q politics and lives, and how this affects attempts to address class-related issues from an LGBT/Q perspective. I am specifically interested in how class structures experiences and perceptions of LGBT/Q identifications, culture and political spaces. My research is based on interviews with LGBT/Q people based primarily in London and Manchester within the UK, and analysis of LGBT/Q responses to the cuts and austerity measures. I combine sociological research with queer and gender theories.
