The Club

- Club of the Year 2010 & 2012 -

The club's training sessions are held twice a week:

  • Thursday 6 - 8pm

  • Sundays 8 - 10pm

Both sessions are held in the Main Hall in the new campus sports centre, ask at the desk for directions. See here for directions to the sports centre.

If you would like to join us, or just come & watch, please feel free to do so. Please note that at present the club is only operational during University Term Times.

For the academic year 2013/2014, term times are as follows:

  • Michaelmas term: 4 October 2013 to 13 December 2014

  • Lent term: 10 January 2013 to 21 March 2013

  • Summer term: 24 March 2013 to 27 June 2013

Every year we ask our members to pay a one off membership fee (which can be split over 3 termly payments) to help support and run the club. Your membership goes towards buying new kit for the entire kit, as well as paying for its consistent maintenance. We also use your membership to pay for a top level coach who provides 2 hours of coaching a week to all members.

  1. LUSU Number - Every student gets allocated with a LUSU number which is required to join any society or club on campus. If you have purchased a purple card, then the LUSU number can be found on the back.

  2. Club Membership - Either: £50 which is a one off payment for the entire year or you can pay termly, £25 £25 £10. The fee entitles you to use of all Club Equipment and coaching, both in group sessions and on a one-to-one basis.

Members who are not currently Lancaster University Students can get a LUSU number from the student union offices and then join the club in the same fashion as a LU student. As with students, a purple card is not required.

The Club's coaching is primarily provided by professional fencing coach Mâitre D'Armes Mike Thornton.

The Club also welcomes Members who are not currently Lancaster University Students, be these members of staff, students from other institutions, or indeed the general public. Please see the membership details elsewhere on this site. Please note that as a University Sports Club, we are naturally obliged to give preference to current Lancaster Students.
