Meetings Lancaster University Jewish Society

The society meets at 7pm in the Jewish society rooms of the chaplaincy centre for a "Friday Night" meal on weeks when the meals are scheduled. Educational events will be usually be run on a Wednesday evening (when scheduled). Please e-mail JSoc AT Lancaster.ac.uk and ask to be added to our mailing list if you'd like to be kept up to date on our events.

(yes, we usually just say Malcolm is visiting... but with so many new members, it might be worth reminding people who Malcolm is (other than Chaplain to Lancaster JSoc) and why it's definitly worth making an extra effort this week!

Talk: Israel Update, the path the peace
Speaker: Dan Shamah (Director of Public Affairs, Israeli Embassy London)

Dan gave a very frank talk about the Middle East crisis and prospects for peace a year ago. The audience included not only Jews and Israeli's but Muslims and Palestinians as well. Not to mention a large crowd from Global Topics and Politics who jointly ran the event with us. It was a great event and one Dan as well as the JSoc look forward to repeating.

This week is also Shabbat UK, a week organised by UJS when all Jewish students can get a "shabbat kit" including chicken, Challah and wine for a nominal cost.
