This data set was previously analysed in: Diggle, P.J., Lange, N. and Benes, F.M. (1991). Analysis of variance for replicated spatial point patterns in clinical neuroanatomy. J. Amer. Statist. Assn. 86, 618-25. It gives the (x,y)-coordinates of pyramidal neurons in area 24, layer 2 of the cingulate cortex. The data are taken from a unit square region (unit of measurement unknown) in each of 31 subjects, grouped as follows: 1. Controls : 12 subjects, cell numbers 1:43; 44:82; 83:148; 149:209; 210:274; 275:306; 307:412; 413:475; 476:513; 514:569; 570:615; 616:653 2. Schizoaffectives: 9 subjects, cell numbers 654:689; 690:701; 702:756; 757:768; 769:822; 823:901; 902:962; 963:1038; 1039:1059 3. Schizophrenics: 10 subjects, cell numbers 1060:1106; 1107:1108; 1109:1165; 1166:1202; 1203:1218; 1219:1262; 1263:1303; 1304:1341; 1342:1388; 1389:1398 To read the data into R, use: data<-scan("benes.txt") data<-matrix(data,1398,2,byrow=TRUE) (with the obvious modifcation if the data-file is not stored in the current folder) NOTE: these data differ slightly from the data used to compute Figures 5.5 to 5.8 in the book
