Micheline Maylor (MA Creative Writing - Distance Learning - 2001) has recently been made the New Poet Laureate in Calgary

My studies at Lancaster were an eye opener in that Creative Writing was something to be taken seriously. Our studies immersed us in contemporary literatures and deeply engaging discourse with other real writers. My class was full of amazing literary talent including Monique Roffey, Justin Hill, and Sarah Beth Hopton, all who have gone onto great things. After Lancaster, I went to study for a PhD., establish a literary society, work as an acquisitions editor, and Professor. Lancaster was that first taste of driven seriousness, blended with fun. I have life long friends from that time. Lancaster was the start of an avalanche of accomplishments in a rewarding career. My third full book of poetry, Little Wildheart, will be coming out in the fall of 2017 with the University of Alberta Press in Canada.
