Ye Liu is a Principal Statistician in the Flood Management Group at HR Wallingford. Ye has over 13 years of experience of applying statistical models to high-dimensional data of various natures, including spatiotemporal data from environmental processes. Ye’s more recent work is centred around extreme value models for flood-related data, including univariate analysis for individual sites, joint probability analysis for multivariate data, as well as generation of stochastic flood events in continental scales. He is also actively working on statistical learning techniques including emulators for complex physical models as well as other regression-based models. Ye earned his PhD in Statistics at Lancaster University where his research focused on multivariate extreme value models for tail distributions.
