Adjusting to being away from home for the first time can be a difficult transition for all students, particularly if you have additional needs. We therefore offer a range of support services. There is more information about what support you may receive on our Disability Services pages.
Studying at university
Our aim is to support you in becoming a successful independent learner. We are committed to making teaching at Lancaster University as inclusive as possible to ensure this happens. Once formal evidence of your condition has been received by the Disability Service we can then put in place an Inclusive Learning and Support Plan (ILSP). This document is intended to outline some of the difficulties that you may face to advise the relevant staff, along with the adjustments that we are able to make (including for exams). You will get a chance to review this document before it is made available to relevant members of your academic department and other University staff involved in supporting you.
In addition, all staff have access to information about Inclusive Teaching. We also co-ordinate staff training sessions throughout the year to help staff to support disabled students.
