Welcome Week

Welcome Week

Get ready to enrol at Lancaster University

Welcome Week

Welcome Week - sometimes known as freshers' week - takes place each year at the start of the Michaelmas term in September/October. It is a programme of activities organised for new students starting at Lancaster University and includes events such as College welcome sessions, guided campus tours, registration and social activities. The International Student Orientation will also be held during this week, which we recommend you attend.

University registration

At Registration, in order to comply with Tier 4 rules:

  • You must present your passport and visa or Biometric Identification Document (visa so we can scan these into our records
  • You also need to show your original documents that were used to obtain your offer ie certificates, transcripts, SELT/English language certificate
  • If you were required to apply for an ATAS certificate then you should also provide a copy of this at registration.

Police registration

Some foreign nationals are required by law to register with the police within seven days of arrival in the UK. Please check your visa to confirm whether you are required to do so. Staff from Lancashire Constabulary (police) will be available to process your police registration during the University registration. If you are required to register with the police then please do so at the same time as you register with the University. You will need to pay £34 for this.

Please note that if you do not have the correct visa for studies at Lancaster or all the original documents required (the documents used for your offer etc) then we cannot register you.
