Undergraduate intercalation and tuition fee policy

Understand the fee implications during a period of suspended studies as an undergraduate student

 

New students with a date of last attendance within Intro Week will be charged £0

 

Student Finance England / Wales / Northern Ireland / European Team (Whole)

Students with a date of last attendance during Michaelmas Term – charged 25%

Students with a date of last attendance during Lent Term – charged 50%

Students with a date of last attendance during Summer Term – charged 100%

 

Student Finance England / Wales / Northern Ireland / European Team (Partial)

If Student Finance is partially responsible for payment:

Students with a date of last attendance during Michaelmas Term – Student Finance charged 25%, Student pro rata by weeks

Students with a date of last attendance during Lent Term – Student Finance charged 50%, Student pro rata by weeks

Student with a date of last attendance during Summer Term – Student Finance charged 100%, Student pro rata by weeks

 

Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)

The tuition fees are only paid if the student is in attendance on 1 December of the relevant AY.

Students with a date of last attendance prior to 1 December – no fee

Students with a date of last attendance on or after 1 December – pro rata by weeks

 

Isle of Man

Whole:

The fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance).

Partial:

Where the student is partially funded by the IOM government, the student must pay their contribution first.  Any liability that exceeds the student contribution will then be paid by the IOM government.

 

Jersey

Whole:

The fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance). 

Partial:

Where the student is partially funded by the Jersey government, both the student liability and Jersey’s liability will be pro rata by weeks, based on their individual contributions.

 

Guernsey

Whole:

The fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance).

Partial:

Where the student is partially funded by the Guernsey government, the student must pay their contribution first.  Any liability that exceeds the student contribution will then be paid by the Guernsey government.

  

NHS Bursary (Medical Students)

The tuition fees are only paid if the student is in attendance on 1 December of the relevant AY.

Students with a date of last attendance prior to 1 December – no fee

Students with a date of last attendance on or after 1 December  – charged 100%

 

Self and any other sponsor not mentioned above

The fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance). 

 

Any credits created by the recalculation of fees will be held on account and allocated to the tuition fee charged when study is resumed.  

If a student withdraws after a period of intercalation, the fee will be recalculated in line with the withdrawal guidance.
