Undergraduate withdrawal and tuition fee policy

Understand the fee implications of withdrawing from your course as an undergraduate student.

 

New students who withdraw with a date of last attendance up to and including Friday of Week 1 will be charged £0.

Student Finance England / Wales / Northern Ireland / European Team (Whole)

Students with date of last attendance in Michaelmas Term – charged 25%

Students with date of last attendance in Lent Term – charged 50%

Students with date of last attendance in Summer Term – charged 100%

 

Student Finance England / Wales / Northern Ireland / European Team (Partial)

If Student Finance is partially responsible for payment:

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 1 to Week 4 – Student Finance charged 25%, Student pro rata by weeks

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 5 to Week 10 – Student Finance charged 25%, Student charged 100%

Students with a date of last attendance during Lent Term – Student Finance charged 50%, Student charged 100%

Student with a date of last attendance during Summer Term – Student Finance charged 100%, Student charged 100%

 

Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)

Students with a date of last attendance prior to 1 December – no fee

Students with a date of last attendance on or after 1 December – charged 100%

 

Isle of Man

Whole:

The fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance).

Partial:

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 1 to 4 – pro rata by weeks, if amount is equal to or less than student contribution, student is wholly responsible for payment.  If amount is greater than student contribution, IOM government to pay excess.

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 5 onwards – 100% student contribution, pro rata by weeks for IOM.

 

Jersey

Whole:

The fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance).

Partial:

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 1 to 4 – pro rata by weeks based on contributions

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 5 onwards – 100% student contribution, pro rata by weeks for Jersey

 

Guernsey

Whole:

Where the Guernsey government is wholly responsible for payment, the fee is pro-rated based on the number of weeks the student was in attendance (determined by date of last attendance).

Partial:

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 1 to 4 – pro rata by weeks, if amount is equal to or less than student contribution, student is wholly responsible for payment.  If amount is greater than student contribution, Guernsey government to pay excess.

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 5 onwards – 100% student contribution, pro rata by weeks for Guernsey.

 

NHS Bursary (Medical Students)

The tuition fees are only paid if the student is in attendance on 1 December of the relevant AY.

Students with a date of last attendance prior to 1 December – no fee

Students with a date of last attendance on or after 1 December – charged 100%

 

Self and any other sponsor not mentioned above

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 1 to Week 4 –pro rata by weeks

Students with a date of last attendance from Week 5 onwards – charged 100%
