Terms and Conditions
The Department of Languages and Cultures, in conjunction with the Confucius Institute, offers a range of extracurricular courses all year round, open to all wishing to continue their language studies or start a new language, whilst developing their intercultural awareness. Courses are taught in the language of study as much as possible, so as to immerse students in real-life situations.
The Confucius Institute will be opening a 16-week course, from Wednesday 28th February to Wednesday 27th June. This Mandarin Chinese language course is designed for beginners, or those with little prior knowledge, who are interested in learning Chinese for work.
This coming Summer term, the department will open new “for holiday” courses in French, German, Italian and Spanish: these two-hour weekly courses will run over the first five weeks of the term (23rd April – 25th May). Ideal for students with little or no prior knowledge, as well as for students who have not practised for a long time, the classes will focus on everyday situations encountered when travelling abroad (such as exchanging personal information, travel, meals & accommodation, accidents & health issues).
Price: £80. Registration via the online store, opens in March.
Take a two to three-week trip with your student peers to the USA, China, India, Malaysia, Paris and/or Ghana during Easter and Summer breaks.
