Transfer Programmes in India

We currently have two partners in India, which specifically offer transfer programmes leading to degrees awarded from Lancaster University. These are in collaboration with Manipal University in Mangalore, Manipal Sikkim University in the foothills of the Himalayas, Manipal Dubai University and SRM University in Chennai. Scholarships of up to 20% fee-reduction on the standard international Lancaster University fee are automatically applied to all students who register under the arrangements described below, and who meet our admissions criteria.

2+2 and 2+3 Engineering Transfer Programmes

Students on these programmes spend the first two years of their BTech undergraduate degree in Manipal University, at one of the locations in India or Dubai, and then study for a further two years here at Lancaster. Students will then be awarded a BEng Honours degree from Lancaster University. If students wish, they can continue on for a further year, spending three years here, to be awarded an MEng degree from Lancaster. We offer both these programmes in Mechanical Engineering; Mechatronics; Communication Systems & Electronics; Computer Systems Engineering; Electronic and Electrical Engineering; Sustainable Engineering and Nuclear Engineering.

1+2 Biotechnology Transfer Programmes

We also have a transfer programme at Manipal University, again in India or Dubai, for Biotechnology students leading to a BSc awarded by Lancaster University. In this case, students spend one year of their bachelor degree in either India or Dubai, and then come to Lancaster for the final two years of the programme. The Lancaster degrees offered, under this arrangement, include Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science and Cell Biology.

3+2 Engineering Transfer Programme

We have also established a 3+2 programme in collaboration with SRM University in Chennai, India. On this programme students spend three years of their BTech degree at SRM and take their final year at Lancaster. In this case, students go directly into the third and final year of one of our BEng Honours degree schemes. We then transfer credit back to SRM and students are awarded their BTech from SRM University. Students can continue on for a further year at Lancaster on one of our Science and Technology Master’s degree programmes, and on successful completion they are awarded their Master’s degree by Lancaster University. This programme is available for all our undergraduate Engineering programmes and on selected Master’s degree schemes in our Faculty of Science and Technology.

1+1 Double Master’s Degree Transfer Programme

Students on this programme study for one year of a two-year Master’s degree at Manipal University located in either Mangalore or Bangalore, through the Manipal Centre for Information Science, and then come to Lancaster for one full year. Credit is transferred back to Manipal for the second year of study and so therefore students are awarded two Master’s degrees, one from Manipal University and the other from Lancaster University. Degrees included in this scheme are in Engineering, Electronics, Computing and Communication Systems.
