Why did you choose Lancaster University?

Lancaster seemed to be perfect for me from the first time I stepped on campus during an open day. I just knew from the great atmosphere, the high reputation of the university and the location – so close to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks and not too far away from home, that Lancaster was the place for me.

What do you feel is the best aspect of studying at Lancaster University?

I really like the campus life; everything is in easy reach, from lectures to accommodation and even the bank and sports centre. In fact you could practically live on campus for the whole year and not leave – but this may get a little boring after a while! With the great city centre and the stunning scenery surrounding Lancaster, you wouldn’t want to miss out on exploring the area.

What’s best about the social life at Lancaster?

The social life at Lancaster is really second to none. There’s always something going on within your college whether it be days out ice skating or live music in the college bar. Also there are over a hundred societies to choose from so there’s something for everyone.

How does Lancaster University provide you with support, advice and guidance?

This is one thing I have really found good about the University – there’s always someone to talk to if you have a problem. You are assigned two tutors - a Course Tutor who looks after your educational needs and a Personal Tutor who looks after your non-academic requirements. I have found both of them to be very helpful and accessible. Additionally there is the Lancaster University Nightline which is a confidential listening service through the night, so virtually at any time there is someone to talk to.

What advice would you give to students considering studying at Lancaster University?

I would definitely take up every opportunity given to visit the University through the many open days they provide. I went to two – one a general open day and another was a more course-specific one after I had made my choice. These are very informative and helped me make my final decision to study at Lancaster.
