What can I expect?
The Start-up boot camp aimed at EU students, staff and alumni and is run over two jam-packed days. There will be interactive workshops, guest speakers sharing their experiences and opportunities to network with other like-minded individuals. If you have a business idea but don’t know what to do about it, have a business plan but don’t know what to do next or just want to find out more about the exciting opportunity of working for yourself then get involved!
There will be opportunities to share ideas and network with budding entrepreneurs, business support experts and professional trainers who can help you to develop your ideas and investigate the resources and structures to build your business on firm foundations.

The programme is FREE, so it can’t hurt to come along. It is aimed at individuals that have a business idea already but even if you decide starting a business isn’t right for you, you’ll still have met some really useful people and have a better understanding of what setting up or working in a small business is all about.
On 25th and 26th March Lancaster University will be hosting it’s first International Start-Up Boot Camp. The bootcamp is centred around ‘Doing Business in the UK’ and aims to provide enthusiastic students, staff and recent graduates with the tools and knowledge to develop a business idea.
The Boot Camp runs over two jam-packed days, offering a range of interactive workshops, networking opportunities and knowledgable guest speakers who can share their experiences. The Boot Camp is completely free to Lancaster University students, staff and recent graduates.
The Boot Camp will be held at Lonsdale College on the University Campus. Full programme to follow.
Your business plan could win you a cash prize of between £1000-£20,000.
This is an opportunity for Lancaster University students and alumni to develop their business ideas to enter Santander’s “Awards for Entrepreneurship” Scheme which offers a combined total of £44,000 to support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
The Santander Awards are grouped within two categories – Undergraduate and Postgraduate – with the top prize for each category being £5,000 and £20,000 respectively.
The Enterprise Team at Lancaster is now calling on students and alumni to apply with their business plan to Jon Powell, the Lancaster University Enterprise Champion. The best submissions in each category will be put forward as entrants to the Santander Awards Scheme. The competition is open to all Lancaster students and Alumni who have graduated within the past 5 years.
How to Apply:
Applicants are required to send their business plans which will include details such as proposed target market, financial forecasts, idea viability, personal motivations and objectives and confirmation of whether they are applying in the undergraduate or graduate category to enterpriseteam@lancaster.ac.uk
Closing Date:
The closing date for applications is 4pm on Wednesday 3rd April 2013.
