Introduction

Each of Lancaster’s nine colleges has its own student body and in Graduate College this is known as the Graduate Students' Association (GSA). If you are a registered graduate student at Lancaster, full- or part-time, then you are automatically a member of the GSA, regardless of whether or not you live in Graduate College or off-campus.

The GSA is run by a committee of students which is elected each year in late October. It is funded by Lancaster University Students’ Union and by the income it generates from its own operations, such as social events and games machines within Graduate College. The GSA also maintains close links with the Graduate College and its Principal, and the Lancaster University Graduate School and its Director.

Get involved

The success of the GSA depends on graduate students getting involved in our activities. For most people, this will mean attending social activities or playing sport for the College, but we also need people to get involved with the GSA committee.

Elections to the GSA Committee are held early in the first term. Just because you are new to the Graduate College, please don’t be put off standing for a position on the GSA. Most students are on one year Masters courses, so a whole new committee, made up of new students, needs to be elected each year. If you don’t want to stand for a position but still want to help out, for example with socials, with organising sports events, then please tell us - we are quite an informal organisation and welcome all help.
