Workshop Report, 26th February 1999
Analysing cross-cultural encounter and developing intercultural competence

A joint workshop run by the Interculture Project and the LARA Project as members of the RAM group to compare the work of the two projects on Intercultural Awareness Raising, including presentations by members of the Interculture Project on work to date and a joint presentation by Celia Roberts and Shirley Jordan about their work on a LARA sub-project developing a module using an ethnographic approach to preparing and supporting students during the PRA.

Evaluation Report

An evaluation report commenting on the project's activities.  The focus for this strand of the evaluation is on what was experienced as a process by project participants rather than on the substantive content or quality of the project products.  The report explores the following issues:

  • project management style, effectiveness and appropriateness
  • partnership and inter-team relationships
  • expectations and uses which have been prompted by project participation
  • successes and difficulties in project participation

Evaluation Report

An evaluation report commenting on those products of the Project which are offered to students and their tutors involved in a period of residence abroad, in order to help them prepare for, profit from and reflect upon residence abroad as a cultural/intercultural experience. It therefore focuses on the outcomes of the Project as presented on the website, with some attention to other elements of the website, which in itself is a product of the Project.

At the end of the report there is an appendix of the project team's response to some of the detailed comments in this report.
