Regional Investigations – current and recent research at Lancaster University

We are hoping to include each of the advertised speakers in events in the next academic year, so we hope that everyone who had booked will have the opportunity to hear the speakers/presentations that they were particularly interested in at a future date.

The Annual Archaeology Forum, hosted by the Regional Heritage Centre, has been established as a key event in the archaeological calendar of the North of England for many years. The Future of Heritage in Lancaster - what are the prospects?

Date: Friday 17 March 2017 Time: 14.00-16.30

This special event, organised in collaboration with Lancaster Vision, will examine the challenges and opportunities that the heritage sector faces in Lancaster. We will hear from Marketing Lancashire and a community group that are taking over the Judges' Lodgings from Lancashire County Council, and there will also be input from local politicians and heritage professionals. Kings and Vikings: North- West England and the Irish Sea Region in the Early Middle Ages

There is an increasing level of academic interest in the Irish Sea region in the Early Middle Ages, with greater recognition of the importance of this area in trade and communication and as a nexus of medieval cultural contact. Read more»
