Summary of review entitled 'Modern Painters, etc.', Fraser's Magazine, March 1846.

The emphasis of Modern Painters I on the accurate representation of nature is welcomed (see here) by the critic of Fraser's Magazine, and its principles wholeheartedly accepted in this sympathetic review (see here). Particularly impressed by Ruskin 's view of art as a religious and moral vehicle, and his close observance of the natural world, (see here) the critic merely objects to the work's obsession with Turner (see here).
