In 1995/1996 the project was funded by a British Academy Major Research Grant. The British Library are active collaborators in the project. There is a team of independent evaluators.

In 1997, the Project received a grant from the Fonds voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlanderen of Belgium and the British Council for a joint project with the Centre for Medieval Studies, Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven on links between Britain and the Low Countries in the later Middle Ages, with special emphasis on mercantile connections and pageantry.

The project is housed at Lancaster University.
