Connect to IT services
As a distance learner, IT access and support is going to be vital. Here is a quick introduction to the essential services
The Student Portal provides access to your email, your online learning spaces in Moodle and more.
iLancaster, our free mobile app, is a handy way to get a range of University services on the go. It’s available for iOS and Android, and there’s a web-based version if you can’t install the app on your device or want to use it on your PC or laptop. You’ll need to select the ‘Student/Staff User’ profile when you log into iLancaster for the first time. If you’ve already been using iLancaster before officially becoming a Lancaster student you'll need to log out of the app then log back in, selecting the ‘Student/Staff User’ profile.
A range of University site-licensed software is available, and using Application Jukebox many applications can be run on your own Windows device without the need to install them. You are entitled to install antivirus software and Microsoft Office applications for free.
Lancaster University Box provides you with unlimited secure storage for your work, as well as options for collaboration and file sharing. On our servers we also give you a personal filestore (H: drive) which is backed up daily.
The University Virtual Private Network enables you to connect to some University services as though you were on campus. Once you have set up a VPN connection it is secure and easy to use.
MyAccount provides information about your University Account, including your email address and options for changing and resetting your password.
