It's nice to find out about other cultures, not by sitting in a classroom, but by talking to different people, taking part in events they organise, and celebrating festivals with them.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences provides joint and interdisciplinary courses available for all PhD students, which benefits my research as well as my social circle with students from different departments

My Mum also likes the fact that Lancaster has the lowest crime rate of any student city in the UK and a determined police service.

I really enjoy the modules offered in my course which makes studying Politics with International Relations very interesting.

I feel strongly supported by both my supervisors and colleagues in the department as well as the wider research community on the campus.

My visit days did a lot to confirm that I had made a good decision because all students and staff I met were very friendly.

All members of staff are warm and welcoming making it easier to ask for help, with the facilities creating an environment that makes studying more enjoyable.

I chose Lancaster University because the combination of Criminology and Social Work in the same department is rare - in most universities Criminology is with the Law department.
