LifeMirror set out to reintroduce local cinema as a community\u00a0tool, enhancing community spirit with entertainment\u00a0and creating a new arena for communicating ideas on a\u00a0daily basis. The challenge was to create an online crowd\u00a0sourced film making system to provide a new form of citizen\u00a0communication and engagement.<\/p>\n
The system is being designed so that, on a larger scale, the sequences of video can be configured not only\u00a0by time, but also by user and location. For example, a film called \u2018Love\u2019 in Paris will look different to one made in\u00a0London. It\u00a0is currently at an experimental stage where clips are looped in time sequence under the film title.<\/p>\n
LifeMirror develops partnerships between Oliver Case –\u00a0PhD HighWire student ,\u00a0James Hadley – Loading Deck Ltd, a computer\u00a0science innovation student at Lancaster University, the\u00a0Gregson Community Centre, and many others.<\/p>\n
The LifeMirror project has created a new crowd sourcing\u00a0application tool for both Android and Apple mobile use. It\u2019s\u00a0a unique cinematic system designed to enable collective creativity and filmic argumentation based on geotime tracked\u00a0video through mobile cameras.<\/p>\n
Over forty collectively produced films have been made\u00a0informing the research and providing a ground level\u00a0perspective of community issues, imagined narratives,
\npolitical debate and activism.\u00a0LifeMirror has significant potential for documenting
\nfuture academic research and is acting as a useful tool for\u00a0community creativity.
\nInsights into social behaviour surrounding audiovisual\u00a0communication is developing and the data gathered sheds\u00a0new light on the collective activity of user-artists and
