Travel, Accommodation and Visas

Below is some general information about Lancaster and how to get here, some accommodation options, and information for international travellers who may require a visa. Please contact us if there are any other questions.

Getting to Lancaster

Lancaster is located in the northwest of England, about 50 miles north of Manchester and close to the Lake District and Yorshire Dales National Parks, the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Morecambe Bay.

Lancaster train station is served by trains directly from many parts of the UK, including London and Manchester International Airport. Workshop participants arriving into Heathrow should make their way to Euston station in central London, where there is a direct service to Lancaster (approx. 2 1/2 hours).

Further information about travelling to Lancaster and Lancaster University can be found here. More information about things to see and do in Lancaster and the surrounding area can be found here and here.

The workshop programme contains annotated maps of the university campus and Lancaster city centre.
