His research examines how race and whiteness shape and are shaped by the politics of climate change and the Anthropocene. His recent book The Other of Climate Change: Racial Futurism, Migration, Humanism (Rowman and Littlefield, 2022) culminates a lengthy investigation into the forms of knowledge that construct the figure of the climate migrant/refugee outside the category of the human. His current work focuses on the role urban imaginaries play in the adaptations of racial capitalism in the context of growing debate about climate apartheid. He is co-editor (with Giovanni Bettini) of Life Adrift: Climate Change, Migration, Critique (Rowman and Littlefield, 2017) and (with Dimitri Manou et al.) of Climate Change, Migration and Human Rights: Law and Policy Perspectives (Routledge-Earthscan, 2017).\n \n \n
