SUMMARY:Dr Stephanie Sodero’s New Book ‘Under the Weather: Reimagining Mobility in the Climate Crisis’
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to share that on 10th March we will be hosting an exciting online webinar featuring Dr Stephanie Sodero talking about her new book ‘Under the Weather: Reimagining Mobility in the Climate Crisis’. The webinar will also feature two discussants Dr Mimi Sheller and Dr Monika Buscher. \nTo register for the event please follow this link to the Eventbrite ( https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cemore-webinar-with-dr-stephanie-sodero-on-new-book-under-the-weather-tickets-529251033087 ).\nStephanie is a Lecturer in Climate Change and Health at the University of  Manchester and he research focuses on vital mobilities — how goods, such as blood, saline IV solution, and oxygen move from the point manufacture to the point of care, and how such  supply chains can be made more resilient in a changing climate. See this blood illustration to learn more about her work.\nIn her book, Stephanie uses two Atlantic Canadian case studies as a springboard, and contributes to pressing cultural and policy discussions about community resilience by imagining human mobility that works with, rather than against, the climate in ways that benefit local communities.\nFocusing on community advocates, policy makers, and academics,  Stephanie calls for a transformative approach to mobility and offer five recommendations:  revolutionising mobility, prioritizing vital mobilties, embracing green and blue, rebranding redundancy, and thinking flex.\nPlease view her companion website ( https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furldefense.proofpoint.com%2Fv2%2Furl%3Fu%3Dhttps-3A__stephaniesodero.weebly.com_book.html%26d%3DDwMFAw%26c%3DslrrB7dE8n7gBJbeO0g-IQ%26r%3D2cFVp7IXzEsNhHJg2TGj3Q%26m%3Dwb_fmG24lwMKnDa4b6X-EhCJeHHLd6smlhFBq1BQlwfg1pP4uawUHcaXgbtOeA3M%26s%3D9zQi--yJhUeEwr1PuzHCdWSZKDfnhf4aYccOiO3WAEw%26e%3D&data=05%7C01%7Ch.phipps%40lancaster.ac.uk%7C828ded1f7552470c906a08dafee95afe%7C9c9bcd11977a4e9ca9a0bc734090164a%7C0%7C0%7C638102575445385509%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=8lStfjzNuPqvA%2BrQHP2%2F9P0ObZPHpt%2F%2Fg8eVtBws4Hk%3D&reserved=0 ) for more information about the book and access to teaching and advocacy tools.\nOur discussants Dr Mimi Sheller and Dr Monika Buscher are both esteemed members of the mobilities research community. Dr Mimi Sheller is the Dean of The Global School at the Worcester Polytechnic in the US and was founding co-editor of the journal Mobilities, founding co-director of the Centre for Mobilities at Lancaster University. Dr Monika Buscher is Professor of Sociology, Director of Research for the Department of Sociology, and Director of the Centre for Mobilities Research at Lancaster University.\nThis webinar will feature a talk from Stephanie, followed by feedback and comments from our discussants in the first hour, and then there will be time for questions and discussion from our audience in the last section of the webinar.\nTo register for the event please follow this link to the Eventbrite ( https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cemore-webinar-with-dr-stephanie-sodero-on-new-book-under-the-weather-tickets-529251033087 ).\nWe look forward to seeing you all at this exciting event and for a great opportunity to discuss mobilities and climate action as well as a chance to connect with the lovely mobilities community.\n
