{"id":1632,"date":"2017-02-03T16:22:54","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T16:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/cemore\/?p=1632"},"modified":"2017-02-03T16:22:54","modified_gmt":"2017-02-03T16:22:54","slug":"cemore-walk-shaping-and-being-shaped-by-the-duddon-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/cemore\/cemore-walk-shaping-and-being-shaped-by-the-duddon-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"Cemore walk: Shaping and being shaped by the Duddon Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday 12<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/p>\n<p>Join us in the Duddon Valley in the Lake District for a breath of fresh air and a Cemore walking seminar with artist Nikki Pugh.<\/p>\n<p>The walk will take in sites related to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/cemore\/deep-mapping-the-duddon-valley\/\">Nikki\u2019s research<\/a> for her current work with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/history\/about-us\/people\/christopher-donaldson\">Chris Donaldson<\/a> from Lancaster University and the Wordsworth Trust in Grasmere. It will be a 4 mile circular walk, which will take about 3 hours including interesting stops and sights. We will be looking at traces of activity in the valley, discussing Nikki\u2019s work, and informally sharing our own mobilities research as we walk and talk.<\/p>\n<p>9.30am meet at Lancaster train station for lifts to the Duddon Valley.<\/p>\n<p>11am Meet near Ulpha at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/maps\/place\/Sella+Brow,+Broughton-in-Furness+LA20+6DT\/@54.3253345,-3.239477,16.57z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x487cb76aa005435b:0x208dae1d89aa8049!8m2!3d54.3253345!4d-3.2363473\">this parking spot<\/a> for a <a href=\"http:\/\/where2walk.co.uk\/lake_district\/away_from_the_crowds\/fells-over-the-duddon-valley\/\">4 mile circular walk up Stickle Pike<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>5pm arrive back in Lancaster (latest)<\/p>\n<p>We will be walking on an exposed mountain route so bring walking boots, warm clothing, a waterproof jacket and a packed lunch. \u00a0We also hope to warm up in a caf\u00e9 or pub at the end of the route before heading back to arrive in Lancaster by 5pm at the latest.<\/p>\n<p>All Welcome!
