North West Skills Development Network

Future leaders Programme

CETAD has provided a bespoke learning experience for members of the North West Skills Development Network. A group of network members has been able to study with CETAD in a way that has allowed them to be awarded credits for the learning that they have gained from an in-house development programme; the Future Leaders programme. The students are now using the credits gained towards Masters qualifications delivered by CETAD; this provided them with a fantastic ‘fast track’ opportunity.

Alison Singleton, Learning & Development Consultant, explains more about this collaborative work:

“The Future Leaders programme, an 18 month programme delivered through the North West Skills Development Network has hugely benefitted from a partnership with CETAD. This means that students who want to use their learning from the programme, can go on to have this recognised at Masters level. So far nine students have been through the RAPL module (Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning) and successfully demonstrated their masters learning.

The flexible way in which CETAD operates provides choice to students as to how they want to use the outcomes of the Future leaders programme. Some will see it as a gateway in to a full masters, whilst others will be happy to study just a few modules to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma; some will be happy to have substantial evidence of personal development without the need to go any further.

Working with the Higher Education sector in this way is very rare; the student is in charge of their own development rather than falling in with what the University offers. Couldn’t recommend this approach highly enough.”
