Lancaster Conferences+ hosted successful Northern Women in Food event

Lancaster Conferences + proudly hosted The Women in the Food Industry’s first Northern event ‘Lancashire Female Food Entrepreneurs’ on Thursday 30th January at Lancaster University.

Women in the Food Industry, is a pioneering new initiative and the place for every woman in the food industry to tell their story, to be heard and be given equal respect. Co-founded in January 2019 by Mex Ibrahim and Janie Ash, it has run a series of successful events in London, Scotland and now Lancaster. It has gained high profile influencers, including Asthma Kahn, the first British chef to be featured on the award-winning Netflix’s ‘Chef’s Table’.

The event kicked off with Lancaster University’s Marketplace hosting a Lancashire Producers pop up food market giving visitors the chance to sample and buy amazing local produce. Followed by masterclasses “How to become a Successful Food Entrepreneur’” and an insightful and thought-provoking panel discussion “Inspiring Women in Food.” The panel included our very own Head of Hospitality Ros Wilkinson.

Head of Hospitality Ros Wilkinson, at Lancaster University said: “When Janie approached us to host his event we had no hesitation in saying yes to being involved. The panel discussion covered a wide range of topics and I was delighted to have been invited to be on this if a little nervous about what questions the audience may throw at me. Overall the event was one that I am proud to have hosted at Lancaster University and to have the opportunity of meeting some inspiring women working in the food industry today.”

Lancaster University’s hospitality team worked closely with Lancaster Conferences + in playing an essential part in the success of the event by providing guests with a locally produced lunch to celebrate the occasion.

Head of Conferences, Events & Visitor Services Helen Davenport, at Lancaster University said: “We were really excited to work with such an inspiring organisation and showcase the fantastic achievements of women in the North of England – there’s definitely a lot to shout about here and I look forward to continuing to supporting this successful organisation.”

From Lancaster’s campus base, Lancaster University’s conference business (Lancaster Conferences+) offers more than a dozen venues, hosting everything from keynote conferences and training courses to team-building getaways with a dedicated, professional events team to help achieve event goals.
