The department is also among the top linguistics departments in the world as well as in the UK. In the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topuniversities.com\/university-rankings\/university-subject-rankings\/2020\/linguistics\">QS World University<\/a> rankings by subject Linguistics at Lancaster was ranked 1oth in the world. We have now been in the top 20 in the world for seven years in a row. Linguistics at Lancaster is also consistently ranked in the top 10 in the UK. We are ranked 2nd in the UK by 2024 Times Good University Guide and 3rd in the 2024 <span style=\"color: #800000\"><a style=\"color: #800000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk\/league-tables\/rankings\/linguistics\">Complete University Guide<\/a><\/span>. It is highly ranked in all three major UK university league tables: The Times\/Sunday Times, the Guardian and the Complete University Guide. Internationally, it is ranked 122nd in the QS World University Rankings 2024. The University is set near the Lune Valley and the Forest of Bowland \u2013 areas of outstanding natural beauty \u2013 and on the edge of the Lake District.
