The programme consists of a series of intensive sessions, <strong>involving\u00a0lectures\u00a0and\u00a0practical sessions<\/strong> in which participants learn about key topics in language teaching, testing, and assessment (such as analysing learner language,\u00a0 language use in the real world, teaching and assessment of oral and written skills, pragmatic and interactional competence, development of teaching materials to support language acquisition and test preparation) and also acquire a practical set of skills in corpus-assisted language teaching and assessment and corpus methods more generally.<\/p>\n<p>The topics include, for example:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Corpus-based methods in language test development<\/li>\n<li>Corpus-based methods for validation<\/li>\n<li>Corpus methods in analysing target language use<\/li>\n<li>Assessing pragmatic and interactional competence<\/li>\n<li>Building and analysing own corpora<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to corpus statistics<\/li>\n<li>Analysing and visualising collocations<\/li>\n<li>Corpus methods in analysing learner language<\/li>\n<li>Developing wordlists and corpus-based teaching materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The sessions will be taught by the following speakers: Prof Vaclav Brezina,\u00a0 Dr Raffaella Bottini, Prof Tineke Brunfaut, Dr Dana Gablasova, Prof Luke Harding and Dr John Pill.<\/p>\n<p>For information about venue, dates, contact details and how to apply, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/corpussummerschools\/\">our main page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This summer school takes place under the aegis of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/linguistics\/\">Department of Linguistics and English Language (LAEL)<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cass.lancs.ac.uk\/\">The ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science<\/a>\u00a0(CASS), which is the recipient of The Queen\u2019s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education.
