As severe floods hit the North West of England last weekend a Lancaster University research team, led by Professor Maggie Mort (Sociology), called for the Government\u00a0to take notice of how flooding affects children.<\/p>\n

Working with school children hit\u00a0by severe flooding two years ago both on Humberside and Thames Valley, the ESRC project, partnered by Save The Children, has produced Children’s Flood Manifestos advising Government and major agencies on action needed before, during and after floods. The project, which includes Dr Marion Walker (Sociology), Dr Amanda Bingley (Division of Health Research)\u00a0and Dr Alison Lloyd Williams (Sociology), has made\u00a0a short film<\/a>\u00a0aimed at increasing\u00a0understanding of how children’s lives are disrupted by floods.\u00a0Professor Mort was interviewed by Look North<\/a> TV (East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire) (23:49) ; Dr Marion Walker (Sociology) by BBC Radio Humberside<\/a>\u00a0(02:23:15) on the second anniversary of the Humberside floods.<\/p>\n
