Book your assessment
Once you have received written confirmation of your eligibility for DSA from your funding body you are ready to book your Study Needs Assessment.
How do I book an appointment?
When you are ready to book your appointment, contact us by phone or email.
We aim to offer you an appointment within a week, although it may be longer during particularly busy periods of the year.
If we cannot give you an early appointment, we can direct you to another centre that may be able to see you sooner. Whether you go elsewhere or stay with us is entirely your choice.
We will ask you for a copy of the letter or email from your funding body confirming that they will fund the assessment and a copy of the medical evidence or educational psychologist report that supported your application for DSA.
Before the assessment, we will also ask you to complete an online pre-assessment information form and a consent form. Do let us know if you would like some help completing the forms. We require this information so that the assessor is able to make appropriate preparations for your assessment.
Your appointment will be confirmed by email and will include the time of the assessment and where it will take place. For face to face assessments, we will provide directions and a map of the campus as attachments. You can also find directions on our how to find us page.
Face to face assessments take place at Lancaster University. Current Lancaster University students will be directed to go to the Student Services Hub in University House to digitally check in. Non-Lancaster students or pre-entry students will be directed to come to the main reception in University House. Tell the staff at the desk that you have arrived for your appointment, and a member of the Centre staff will come to meet you and take you to the assessment room.
