Two Lancaster MEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering students have been awarded the coveted UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) scholarships. UKESF's mission is to encourage bright and able students to pursue study and careers within the field of electronic engineering. Alongside their partner universities and companies, they distribute awards to the very best engineering students, providing them not only with financial support but also invaluable work experience.

Every year, companies associated with UKESF release a handful of scholarships to students attending a partner university, granting the student with a bursary of £1000, alongside paid summer work placements at the awarding company, a residential at UKESF Scholars' Workshop, as well as mentorship from the sponsoring company itself. Students can apply for the scholarships in any year of study aside from their final year, and they will receive each of the benefits of the award for every year of their degree that remains.

Grzegorz Sojka and Andrew Thomas, both a part of Lancaster University's Engineering Department, have been awarded scholarships through UKESF's scholarship programme by engineering companies CSA Catapult and Seagate respectively. On their recent success, Professor Claudio Paoloni, Head of the Department of Engineering said:

"I am delighted to congratulate Grzegorz and Andrew for the successful award of the prestigious UKESF scholarships. This achievement will surely be of inspiration to many other students considering a career in electronic engineering. We are grateful to UKESF for the outstanding opportunity they offer our best students and their unending commitment to promoting electronic engineering."
