English Literature

We warmly welcome you to the subject of English Literature. You will be joining a vibrant lively community of readers and critics studying literature from the Medieval period to the present day.

You will be taught vital skills of close reading, analysis and interpretation and learn how to present oral and written work well. You will learn to compare different styles and forms and to apply critical theory effectively to texts. You will also have the chance to hear major writers and thinkers talk about their work with annual visits from the world-famous critic, Terry Eagleton and one of the greatest living poets, Paul Muldoon.
