Innovator Launchpad is a new Facebook community powered by Murgitroyd, one of the largest IP firms in Europe. The Launchpad aims to provide a space for innovators to collaborate, access resources and compete for funding.
If you are a pre-profit business or charity based in the UK, the Innovator Launchpad would like to hear your innovation story as part of their new competition.
The winner of the competition will receive an impressive prize package including:
- £5,000 cash

Inspired by the growing number of new businesses being started by young entrepreneurs, Cotswold Fayre are hosting a competition for young entrepreneurs aged between 18-25 years old who have a new fine food product that they may be looking to bring to market.
You could win £1,500 of funding, a year of mentoring from company Founder, Paul Hargreaves plus help from Cotswold Fayre’s in-house designers to build a strong brand identity.

Enterprise Nation have just launched a brand new competition: Student Start-up of the Year.
Supported by Microsoft and 123 Reg, Enterprise Nation are looking for brilliant ideas from both current students and those who have graduated within the past two years.
Entries will be accepted from businesses who are not yet trading and also businesses that have been trading for less than a year.
Applications need to be submitted by the 12th of May.
10 applicants will then be shortlisted to pitch in front of a panel of judges at Microsoft’s offices in London on the 19th May, from those five will be selected to go to a public vote.

Young entrepreneurs (18-25) are encouraged to apply now for up to £20,000 with Baldwins Accountants.
Baldwins KickStart Young Entrepreneur Awards is a national competition for young entrepreneurs who are looking to start a business or have recently done so (trading date must be on or after 31st August 2016).
Entrants should submit their details and ideas here. Entries will then be whittled down to ten semi-finalists before three finalists have the opportunity to present their ideas to a live audience at a gala dinner in November at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
The prize includes a £10,000 grant along with £10,000 worth of mentoring and accountancy advice.

Up to £50k for university researchers with commercially-promising ideas
ICURe is a collaboration of the SETsquared Partnership, Innovate UK and BEIS, which has been designed to help move ideas and innovation out of universities and into the marketplace, where they will have the greatest impact.
ICURe will fund teams to determine whether there is a market for products or services that utilise their research, and then, where there is evidence of market demand, licence or spin-out the research into a company.
The programme will accept applications for teams based at UK universities consisting of a Junior (early career) Researcher, Senior Researcher (Principal Investigator) and a Business Adviser.

Hopefully many of you have been working hard on your Santander Entrepreneurship Awards Applications. This post is just a quick reminder with regards to what to submit, how to submit and the judging criteria. In addition, please could you let us know via email if you are planning to submit an entry and in which category, so that we have an idea of numbers before the actual deadline.
To enter, you will need to produce both a two minute video pitch and a completed business model canvas (Download Template).
In your video the judges will be looking for:
- A clear explanation of your business, its purpose and an understanding of the problem that it solves for customers.
- An understanding of where your business or idea came from.
- Evidence of how winning the competition would help you grow your business.

Project Invitation: Build a Country Challenge
Student, Morgan Saunders is currently looking to form a team to take part in the Build a Country Challenge, this post is an invitation from Morgan to join his project team:
Do you have a winning solution for Digital Identity Management?
Do you want to compete in a prestigious international competition?
Do you have business experience or a business related degree?
Do you have an interest in programming or data science?
If you answered yes to any of the previous questions you may be interested in the Build a Country Challenge. I am forming a team, primarily of Lancaster Students, to compete in the Challenge.
What I bring to the team:

Ideal team member:
- Experience of formulating business plans or programming or expertise in Digital Identity Management.
What taking part involves:
- Assisting with the generation of a practical solution to digital identity management.
- Assisting in the creation of a feasible business plan.

What is the competition process?
If our idea makes it into the top three, we would be invited to speak at the 7th Follow The Entrepreneur Summit in Malta, 9th/10th July 2017. If our idea wins the challenge, €500,000 capital investment, coaching and mentoring would be the prize.

Following on from the recent Thinkspiration workshop hosted on campus by the Environment Now team we have some further details with regards to taking part in the Environment Now Challenge!
Through the Environment Now challenge you can apply for up to £10,000 to develop your idea and you’ll also receive mentoring, work experience and insight days with industry professionals help you make it happen.
To apply for the challenge you must:
- Be aged 17-25 years old.
- Use digital technology to solve an environmental issue
- Be based within the UK
- Be committed to completing project objectives within ten months
- Have the passion to inspire other young people

Finance for ambitious growing businesses
Rosebud, part of Lancashire County Council are looking to support growing businesses in the the high growth sectors of advanced manufacturing, aerospace, finance and professional, creative and digital, energy and environment and health. These businesses must be based in Lancashire or relocating here with good turnover projections and profit margins.
Rosebud Micro provides finance from £10,000 – £49,000 and Rosebud business finance provides funding from £50,000, along with a package of customised business support and advice.

Win up to £5,000 towards your business
The Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed (IPSE) are hosting a competition to crown the UK’s best independent professional. There are two categories for the award – Aspire for those under 23 years of age and Inspire for those over the age of 24.
Fifteen finalists will be invited to London to pitch themselves and their business to a panel before returning as guests to the IPSE Awards ceremony in June, where the winners will be announced. The winner of the Aspire group with be awarded £3,000 to help their business and the overall winner of the Inspire group, £5,000. There are also additional prizes and business support for runners up.
So whether you are a designer, a writer, a developer, an architect or an inventor… why not put in an application!
