Join us for a Valentine’s Day like no other, as Lancaster University's Dr Adam Taylor launches Campus in the City with a tour of the scientific wonders of the heart.

You will be taken on a guided tour of this remarkable organ through a dissection of an animal heart, and will see how blood enters the heart, understand how it beats, and learn how it can change due to lifestyle factors. It’s time to see where the real heartstrings are, find out what a “hole in the heart” is and learn what actually makes your heart beat!

The dissection will be followed by the opportunity to ask questions, so come along to find out all about this fascinating organ. Please note, this event will include a live dissection, and young people may attend at the discretion of a parent or guardian. Doors will open at 6pm, and the 45 minute lecture will begin at 6.30pm and be followed by the opportunity to ask questions.

Dr Adam Taylor is the Director of the Clinical Anatomy Learning Centre and Senior Lecturer in Anatomy at Lancaster University. He teaches Lancaster Medical School’s cohort of medical students all they need to know about the anatomy of the human body, enabling them to utilise this information to treat patients. As well as teaching medical students he also spends his time engaging with the public on all areas of the human body; through engagement events, lectures to schools and charities, or through national and international media. Most recently, his research has shown that there is a vast desire to learn more about anatomy from the public and that this knowledge of the public’s anatomy can be used to improve anatomy teaching and healthcare visits for everyone.
