Lancaster University has just completed its latest accommodation refurbishment, with Pendle, Grizedale, Cartmel and Graduate Colleges benefiting from ongoing investment in the campus.

Over 400 Standard bedrooms in Pendle College and a further 72 in Grizedale have been upgraded over the summer, with new furniture, vanity units, USB sockets and refresh painting responding to student demand.

In Cartmel and Graduate Colleges our partners UPP have continued with their refurbishment programme to deliver brand new kitchens to five of the accommodation blocks. Student focus groups were used to inform the plans, which provide mixed use communal spaces incorporating brand new kitchens with breakfast bars, dining areas and soft seating.

Head of Accommodation Candace Davies emphasised the University’s commitment to continually improving the estate and responding to student demand: “One of the most requested changes students ask for is soft seating areas, the new kitchens in Cartmel and Graduate have been designed to offer more flexible space for students to cook, eat and relax in. The bedrooms in Pendle College have been given a timely refresh to meet the demands of students seeking quality and affordable accommodation; the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive”.

The University’s halls of residence in the city centre at Chancellor’s Wharf have also seen improvements to the offering this summer, with work on a new reception area ongoing and a new laundrette set to open in summer 2018.
