University invests in new sports facilities
The 400m2 extension aims to create more space to meet the increasing demand for sports facilities on campus. The new extension will temporarily accommodate a Human Performance Lab to support research and learning around the newly introduced Sports Sciences degree. The Human Performance Lab will move to the new Health Innovation Campus (HIC) in 2020.
The Strength and Conditioning room will overlook the surrounding greenery of the adjacent sports pitches and will facilitate a wide range of high specification conditioning equipment to support Lancaster University sports teams and attract up and coming talent. The new equipment will include but is not limited to; racks, benches, free weights watt bikes, curved unpowered treadmills, ski ergometer, rowing machines and other functional equipment.
The project is underway and is expected to complete in December 2018 ready for teaching in the Human Performance Lab to take place after Christmas. During the works, minimal disruption is expected however, a crane will be required in the initial 6 weeks of the project whilst the structure of the extension is built.
