The works along the South Spine have progressed ahead of schedule along Fylde and the Science and Technology building. The steel supports are being installed and the contractors are now preparing for the next phase of works.
As planned, the North Spine closure on Tuesday 12th June has seen diversions around FASS revert to former routes.
From Wednesday 6th June until Tuesday 12th June, the North Spine will reopen between FASS and Bowland North on a temporary basis whilst paving works are carried out to the pathway and steps leading to the Chemistry building.
Changes to the accessible route on the spine near Engineering Square will commence from Monday 4th June.
Over the next 4-6 weeks, a series of phased works will be carried out to the South Spine between the Science and Technology building and Engineering building.
New handrails will be installed in Great Hall Court between Monday 14th May and Monday 28th May.
The mouth of the North Spine will close over the weekend to allow contractors to work on the canopy above. During the works, a diverted route will be signposted through the Learning Zone in to Bowland Quad. The cut-through adjacent to Blackwell’s Bookshop is open and leads to the North Spine.
From Tuesday 1st May until Friday 18th May, changes will be taking place to the Spine works around the Faraday Complex and Physics Garden.
The redevelopment phase of the Spine Remodelling Project has been underway since August 2016 and has so far seen the introduction of Great Hall Square, Great Hall Courtyard and Physics Garden in the North of Campus and Furness College Court in the South.
Furness College entrance from the Spine is now closed for 7 weeks while contractors conduct works to the canopy.
