Coordination most typically refers to the timing of movement, although some authors have applied the term to describe spatial relationships as well. Interlimb coordination refers to the maintenance of a particular pattern of timing between the movements of different limbs. Intralimb coordination refers to the maintenance of a particular pattern of timing between different joints within a limb. Maintaining a relationship between the timing of a movement and the time of occurrence of a particular event in the outside environment is also a form of coordination (e.g., when catching a ball).<\/p>\n
