Languages NoW!Date: 7 January 2009 Time: 9.30 am - 2.30 pm North West University Language Alliance (NWULA) Languages NoW! Languages NoW! is designed to encourage year 9 pupils to consider languages when choosing their options. The day will illustrate the advantages of studying foreign languages, including looking at career prospects and the personal benefits of language learning. During the event students will attend one seminar entitled "Why Study Languages" and three workshop sessions. The pupils will all get a chance to participate in a language taster of a language which they are unfamiliar with and a 'native' speaker question and answer session in the language that they are studying at school. This event is free of charge. We hope that Languages NoW! will become a regular feature in the academic calendar. Each event will be hosted by a different university within this regional network. The event was hosted by the University of Chester in 2007 and by Lancaster University in 2008.
