The four letters here chart correspondence between Mr Houlston and CCINTB between 1995 and 2002, beginning early in 1995 with an offer of assistance and a brief overview of his lifelong interest in films. Several days before his first interview in April, Mr Houlston sent a long letter listing names and locations of cinemas in his locality in the 1930s and giving some background information about himself and his life as an avid filmgoer. In 1998, he responded to the project Director's offer to send a copy of the journal containing an article about his interviews, and reflects on the social and cultural differences between prewar and postwar youth. In December 2002, he wrote about his continuing involvement with cinema and his membership of a group concerned with creating greater accessibility for hearing-impaired cinemagoers.

 Scan of first letter (DH-95-034PL001)
 Transcript
 Scan of second letter (DH-95-034PL002)
 Transcript
 Scan of third letter (DH-95-034PL005)
 Transcript
 Scan of fourth letter (DH-95-034PL011)
 Transcript
 Case Study/Audio-synced Interview

Thomas McGoran (Glasgow)

In 1992, Thomas McGoran (b.1927) saw Annette Kuhn's article about 1930s popular cinema in The Glaswegian, and in response wrote this letter.
