- a digitized collection of project work produced by children aged between 9 and 11;
- a component in a larger research programme: a longitudinal study of children's writing-for-learning, based on the writing of 8 - 12 year old children;
- the result of a collaboration
between the Department of
Linguistics & Modern English Language at
Lancaster University, and a primary
school situated in the North West of England;
- founded on a cross-fertilization between two research specialisms in linguistics:
- literacy research and
- computer corpus linguistics;
The corpus has been under development since 1996. It was originally developed thanks to funding from The Leverhulme Trust, under grant no. F/185/AG. Further improvements were made in 1999-2000 under ESRC award R000222856.
