A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY ...

Born:

15th of October, 1881 in Guildford, UK

Early years:

Until the age of four he lived in Hong Kong with his parents.

Schooling:

He was educated at Dulwich College, London. He graduated in 1900.

Career:

He worked for the Bank of Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank for two years. He signed up as a humorist in the London Globe magazine and wrote the By the Way column. He also started contributing a series of school stories to a magazine for boys, the Captain. After 1909 he lived and worked long periods in the U.S. and in France. In 1924 Wodehouse had his major breakthrough with The Inimitable Jeeves.

Final years:

After World War II. he settled in the U.S. and took American citizenship in 1955. He was awarded D. Litt. from Oxford University. He received the kinghthood few weeks before he died.

Died:

He died on 14th of February in 1975.
