[drawing] Opposite. masonry of the two det 5ths
of back of house at Murano. Desc. P. 53 .here.
Their windows are peculiarly graceful in
Det 5th at back forms . owing to the regular shape of
untrefoiled cusp the cusp. which I never before saw developed
Pils restored so markedly. I have hardly given it
Pils some restored form form. enough here opp. but more accurately on
This cusp is perfectly plain. No 114. at a. where it is contracted
not trefoiled. with the form B. belonging to the smaller
side window drawn on that page.
In B. the reversed curve is just felt in
the archivolt. in A. not: in B the
cusp sides I think nearly equal,
though they melt as imperceptibly into
the archivolt as the unequal ones at
A . Consider the beauty of this latter
like all pure Gothic depending on the
slightness of the curve.
In the finished figure of No 114. the
lateral window. with the cusp B. is drawn
a little too small in cusp. fig 2. on
same sheet. is a closer approximation . perhaps
[being ?] a little on the other side
Finally on the back of No 114 . we have
another most remarkable window . with
the pure scymitar cusp again, and even
more delicately tapered than the one opposite.
