[House No 73] No 73. House near Madonna dell Orto. with
Camel.
[diagram] [top of piscina]
Door round [diagram] renaissance. Two earlier
4ths with common c sec. and later well formed
B P pils. The lower plinth carefully drawn
of birds is all built in. some of it upside down.
but at the end of it is a pretty ogee
piscina as opp. in red marble.
The middle . 1st story is all renaissance
about turn of Cornices of Pisani. with
cinque cento capitals - set if I mistake not
on earlier shafts.
The camel and man stand on a later
Pisani renaissance plinth. & are themselves
bad later work.
Into the spandril of the round renaissance
windows is built a beautiful Aquileian
peacock -general effect of which at fig 2
no 108
Above. the balconies are carried on vilely
cat cut lions supported themselves on brackets
as in as 72. They carry a flower plinth
continuous round balconies & walls. and
and this is singularly flat and [?] slovenly
form of the later rose and leaf; better in
effect - though no thanks to the carving
than the undercut specimens. It is like
one of the four plinths squeezed flat in
a herbarium
Of the balconies the central has cherubs
heads between shafts - and singularly slender.
