[diagram] At p 97 is part of the description of the Fourth
window of Ducal Palace: that which is marked
b opposite on thefacade, towards the sea: for the rest
of it - vid pages 87, here - & 89; for its capital. No
64 fig 2.
The next window - c: shows a great change: The section
remains the same as that of b; both in archivolt and
jamb - the base has been the same, applied in the
same way to flanking and flanked dentil - vid No 76 fig 2
where its section is rudely drawn: it is all worked in
the limestone like Lucca - the rest of its description is
on No 76.
+ (1) In this window then we have a piece of work when
Gothic was entirely degraded, or was done cheaply; but
still when Gothic architecture existed.
The descriptions of windows d-e-f and the continuing
round to piazzetta of g, h, i, are given also in No 76
+ (2) Now observe, that in i we arrive at a new period altogether
Vid M 2 one of very recent restoration; yet of which we have
p.44 no definite account: The inferiority of that window
is detailed in No 76, but I suspected the accuracy
of my notes until I got upstairs to the two small
windows on the side towards the piazzetta which are
